What is IELTS?

IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is an international standardised test of English language competency for non-native English language speakers.


The IELTS test training is one of the best ways to improve English and can improve your listening, speaking, reading and writing. The best thing about this test is that it competency-based and does not have a pass or fail structure. You'll be ranked on a scale from 0 to 9, with a score of 9 being an expert user in English. This test can be taken for different reasons, whether it be for studying, a career, or living in a foreign country. You will often need a certain score for a specific reason to meet their criteria. For example, in some countries, a student visa may require a score of 6.5 overall in each of the four areas that you are tested.

This exam is suitable for students who want to continue a bachelor or postgraduate degree program aboard or for those who are seeking professional registration.


This exam is taken by ones who are either getting to study, work or train in an English country like Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the U.K.

How to prepare

To prepare for this examination, first of all, the candidate should understand its format. This test is conducted in four stages reading, writing, listening and speaking. 

  • Reading – the reading test consists of 40 questions, all divided into 3 sections and consists of 60 minutes.

  • Writing – the writing test will have 2 tasks and will be for 60 minutes.

  • Listening – this section is divided into 4 sections and time duration is 30 minutes.

  • Speaking – The speaking test consists of 3 parts of 11-14 minutes.


Practice for the test

Great training and practice is the only way to achieve a high score. Ask for help and support from your teachers, and be sure to use the material that they provide. The more you practice, the better you will do.
